Deal agreed: 22-year-old travelling for medical after Arsenal agree £25m deal
According to the Daily Record, Kieran Tierney has travelled to London overnight to finalise his move to Arsenal after we finally agreed a £25m deal with Celtic.
We’ve been chasing the left-back all summer and after seeing two previous offers rejected, the newspaper says a £25m deal was agreed between the two clubs on Wednesday.
The issue was regarding the structure of the deal as Celtic wanted more of the £25m paid up front but the problem was overcome yesterday allowing Tierney to travel to London late last night.
The 22-year-old will now undergo his medical this morning and agree personal terms before completing his move to Arsenal to become the most expensive Scottish player in history.
I think Tierney will be an excellent signing as he’ll be a big improvement on our current options at left-back. Neither Nacho Monreal or Sead Kolasinac have convinced and Tierney is the perfect blend of the two players.
The Scottish international is solid defensively, excellent going forward, always gives his all and is a leader despite still only being young so I think he’ll prove to be a superb addition to the squad.
There were reports suggesting he could be out for around 8 weeks due to an on-going injury but Neil Lennon played down those rumours and insists the full-back will be fit inside a week or two.
It does mean Tierney won’t be immediately available to make his debut but it won’t be long before he’s fit and I’m looking forward to seeing him in an Arsenal shirt.
