Arsenal to announce 2nd summer signing today after player completes medical
According to reports, Dani Ceballos will complete his season long loan move from Real Madrid to Arsenal today after undergoing a medical in London.
Ceballos has been strongly linked with a move to Arsenal over the past few weeks after it became clear he had to leave Madrid in search of regular first team football having started just 13 league games last season.
We beat-off competition from Tottenham to land the midfielder with AS claiming Unai Emery called Ceballos personally to convince him to snub Spurs in favour of a move to Arsenal.
The Spanish publication said Ceballos flew to London on Tuesday to undergo his medical and Italian journalist Emanuele Giulianelli – who works for Gazzetta dello Sport and Four Four Two – claims the midfielder passed his examinations.
Arsenal: Ceballos passed medical and has signed for loan move. No option to buy but Gunners get first refusal if sold next summer
The Italian’s claim is supported by Sport as the Spanish publication says Ceballos has been in London with his lawyer since Tuesday finalising his move to Arsenal and the loan deal is expected to be announced later today.
Sport says Arsenal will match the players current €4m-a-year wages but there will be no option to buy clause included in the deal – although Giulianelli believes Arsenal have secured first refusal should Madrid decide to sell.
There were fears our proposed move for Ceballos would be derailed after Madrid star Marco Asensio picked up a serious knee injury during our 2-2 draw in the US last night, however, Sport insists the injury will have no impact on the deal.
So it looks as though Arsenal are about to announce the capture of Ceballos as our second summer signing and I think he’ll be an excellent addition to the squad.
A loan isn’t ideal and it’s disappointing we didn’t get an option to buy clause but it’s good that we’ve reportedly got first refusal if Madrid sell next summer.
