BBC: Arsenal confident of agreeing deal after tabling big-money bid for 22y/o star

According to the BBC, Arsenal have submitted an improved £25m bid to sign Celtic left-back Kieran Tierney as Unai Emery tries to complete his second major signing of the summer.

We’ve been chasing Tierney all summer after Unai Emery identified the Scottish international as the man to help solve his problems at left-back ahead of the new Premier League campaign.

The boss doesn’t seem to fancy Nacho Monreal at left-back as the Spaniard spent most of his time playing in a back three last season and although Sead Kolasinac was excellent going forward, the Bosnian struggled defensively.

So it seems Emery is in the market for a new left-back who is solid at the back and dangerous going forward, and it appears Tierney is the man he wants with the 22-year-old considered to be one of the best full-backs in the SPL.

The BBC are one of several media outlets claiming Arsenal have now returned to Celtic with an improved bid worth £25m after seeing our opening £15m offer knocked back last month.

The report says our new offer is comprised of instalments but Arsenal are confident it will be enough to get a deal agreed with the Scottish champions as it matches their reported asking price.

Tierney has been with Celtic his entire career having come through their youth system but the BBC claim the defender is keen to leave his boyhood club and join Arsenal this summer if a deal can be agreed.

I think £25m is a decent deal for all parties as it would be a Scottish record transfer so let’s hope it will be enough to get an agreement in place as I feel Tierney would be an excellent signing for Arsenal.

The Scottish international has all the qualities needed to be a top class left-back and he’d be a big upgrade on Monreal and Kolasinac so let’s hope we manage to get this proposed deal over the line and make Tierney our second signing of the summer.
