Arsenal ‘to submit £11m bid’ for winger, player has been in London

By on June 10, 2019

According to Get French Football News, Arsenal will submit a fresh bid worth around £11.5m for Lorient attacker Alexis Claude-Maurice as Unai Emery looks to revamp his squad this summer.

It’s going to be a crucial few weeks ahead as the club is going to go through something of a rebuild with a number of changes in playing personnel expected before the start of the 2019/20 season. Arsenal are currently the 13/10 sixth-favourites to finish in the top four next season which shows us just how much work needs to be done. I certainly wouldn’t bet on us even if I had a fair promo code to use as the squad is well short of talent.

We’ve also let a few players leave as the club confirmed on Arsenal.com that first team players Aaron Ramsey, Danny Welbeck, Petr Cech and Stephan Lichtsteiner have all been released along with youngsters Cohen Bramall, Charlie Gilmour and Julio Pleguezuelo.

The likes of Nacho Monreal, Laurent Koscielny, Shkodran Mustafi, Granit Xhaka, Mo Elneny, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Mesut Ozil have also been linked with moves this summer so there could be a huge number of players heading out the exit door.

Arsenal are already working on replacements and while fixing our leaky defence should be the main priority, we also need to add some width to the squad as we’ve sorely missed genuine wingers in the team recently.

Claude-Maurice has emerged as a potential target and the youngster fuelled speculation over a move to the Emirates after being spotted in London with former Lorient team-mate Matteo Guendouzi at the end of May.

After reportedly seeing an opening £6.2m bid rejected, Get French Football News are now reporting that Arsenal are ready to submit an improved offer worth around £11.5m for Claude-Maurice.

The French publication’s report is in conjunction with Mohamed Toubache-TER – a French journalist who broke the news that Guendouzi was joining Arsenal from Lorient last summer – so it should have some foundation to it.

However, our improved offer may still be too low as the report says Lorient are holding out for a bid worth somewhere in the region of £13.3m-£17.7m for the 21-year-old attacker as there are a number of other clubs showing a keen interest.

Claude-Maurice obviously isn’t a household name or an established star but Emery is working on a tight budget so I wouldn’t be surprised if this is the type of signing Arsenal are looking at.

The French U20 international is a big talent in France and he contributed 14 goals and 4 assists in 35 games for Lorient last season – which is a solid return for the youngster – so he could be an exciting addition to the squad if we can get a deal agreed.
