Iwobi upgrade: Arsenal to table firm offer for £30m attacker next week

By on May 24, 2019

According to a report by the Independent, Arsenal are ready to submit a firm offer for £30m-rated Bournemouth winger Ryan Fraser after our Europa League final versus Chelsea next Wednesday night.

Unai Emery knows he needs to strengthen throughout his squad if Arsenal are to compete at the very highest level next season and we desperately need to add some genuine width to the team.

Alex Iwobi has plenty of promising attributes but he’s not a natural winger and his final delivery is frustrating at times while Henrikh Mkhitaryan has proven to be a disappointing signing as he’s far too inconsistent.

So like many fans, I’ve been crying out for us to bring in a pacey winger and Fraser has emerged as a prime target in recent months after enjoying a superb season with Bournemouth on the South Coast.

The 25-year-old provided 8 goals and 15 assists across all competitions this season so he’d certain add some much-needed creativity to the side and Fraser has made no secret that he’s flattered Arsenal are looking at him.

When asked about Arsenal’s interest in April, Fraser is quoted by the Independent as saying:

“I am not going to lie, it is very nice, It means you are doing something right. They are a huge club, a massive club.

“When you see your name thrown around you always think to yourself that you are a Bournemouth player and you try to do well.

“I am not going to lie, you do feel good, especially when it’s a massive club.”

It looks like we’re ready to step-up our pursuit as the Independent claim Arsenal will formalise their interest in Fraser by testing Bournemouth’s resolve with a formal offer after our Europa League final against Chelsea next week.

The newspaper says Bournemouth want £30m for the Scottish international’s signature but Arsenal hope to drive the price down as Fraser is about to enter the final year of his contract and has so far refused to sign a new deal.

The Independent claims negotiations have stalled and Bournemouth have accepted they’ll have to cash-in this summer so there is every chance Arsenal will be able to agree a reasonable deal worth less than £30m.

We aren’t the only club in the running as the report says Liverpool are also showing a keen interest but they won’t be able to offer Fraser as much first team football as Arsenal, so we’re in pole position to secure his signature.

Obviously Fraser isn’t the most glamorous name we could go for but he’s a talented player who’s proven in the Premier League and is available at a cut-price deal so I think he’d be a very shrewd piece of business for Arsenal. And he’d be a big upgrade on Iwobi on the wing.
