Arsenal’s chances of beating Rennes increase after Emery receives injury boost
Arsenal have been handed a major injury boost ahead of our Europa League last-16 second leg with Rennes after Henrikh Mkhitaryan was able to take part in full training today.
Arsenal are the 1/4 odds-on favourites to win the second leg at the Emirates and 4/5 to qualify from the tie. Those odds are tempting but if you use a 1xBet promo code then it will boost your winnings considerably so make sure you take advantage of these offers before placing any bets.
Mkhitaryan missed Arsenal’s massive 2-0 victory over Manchester United on Sunday afternoon that led to us climbing back into the top four of the Premier League table with just eight games remaining.
The Armenian international had a back injury so was unable to feature against his former side and Arsenal suggested in their team news update this morning that Mkhitaryan remained a doubt for the Rennes game.
The official team news update on Arsenal.com read:
Henrikh Mkhitaryan
Mild back strain. Being assessed ahead of Rennes (h).
The 30-year-old was due to be assessed at London Colney this afternoon and it looks like he’s been passed fit to face Rennes after taking part in full training with the rest of the squad. You can see photos of Mkhitaryan training with his Arsenal team mates here.
His availability will be a huge boost to Unai Emery as Mkhitaryan has been in excellent form in recent games and he was voted as Arsenal’s Player of the Month for February by the fans. We have other options but I think we’ll see Emery recall Mkhitaryan to the starting eleven against Rennes.
The news comes after Arsenal were further boosted by UEFA’s decision to reduce Alexandre Lacazette’s suspension to just two games after he was initially due to serve a three-match ban following his dismissal against BATE Borisov in the first leg of our last-32 tie. The French international has already served two games against BATE Borisov and the first leg against Rennes so he’ll be back in the squad tonight.
Lacazette and Mkhitaryan’s availability against Rennes tomorrow night severely boosts Arsenal’s chances of overturning the 3-1 defeat from the first leg in France last week to qualify for the quarter finals.
We think Arsenal will get the job done tomorrow as Rennes were poor at home before Sokratis was sent off and I can see the Gunners scoring at least three goals on home soil to book their place in the last-8 of the Europa League. A 3-0 win can be backed at odds of 13/2, which has to be worth a few quid.
