Europa League draw: Arsenal face trip to France in last-16
Arsenal have been drawn to face Rennes in the last-16 of the Europa League following this afternoon’s draw.
We made hard work of beating BATE Borisov in the last-32 as we slumped to an embarrassing 1-0 first leg defeat in Belarus last week which will go down as one of our worst ever European results.
However, the Arsenal players responded by putting in a professional performance in the second leg yesterday to ease to a 3-0 win which booked our place in the next round with a 3-1 aggregate victory.
We’ll now take on Rennes in the last-16 with the first leg to be played at the Emirates on March 7th before the return leg in France on the 14th.
Rennes booked their place in the last-16 after beating Real Betis 6-4 on aggregate so we’ll have to shown them plenty of respect but it’s a short trip and a very winnable tie so Unai Emery should be pleased with the draw.
Elsewhere, Chelsea got Dynamo Kyiv while Emery’s old side Sevilla will face Slavia Prague.
