What makes more money – betting on AFC or gambling at an online casino?

I’m a life-long Arsenal fan and football is my passion but I’ve also been a recreational gambler since I was 20 and I often combine my two hobbies by having a flutter on football matches every week. I also enjoy gambling at casinos and have spent many an hour playing roulette, poker or having a punt on a fruit machine. I’ve always wondered whether it’s easier to make money betting on football or gambling at the casino, so I decided to do a challenge last week that would involve me betting £50 on the Arsenal v Fulham game while also trying my luck at an online casino with the same stake to see how much I came out with.

Online casino – playing at Spin Palace NZ

I began my challenge on Saturday morning playing at Spin Palace which is a well-known casino  and I read a review at http://www.real-money-pokies.co.nz/spin-palace-real-mony-pokies-casino.html before depositing my hard earned money. My chosen casino game would be roulette and I set myself one hour to see how much I could make with my £50 stake.

I’m a low risk gambler when it comes to roulette and I tend to stick to outside bets but after a slow start, I hit a good winning run and ended up winning £10 after the first half hour of play so my bankroll was now £60. I then tried my luck at some fruit machines but burned through £20 pretty quickly so finished by playing blackjack where I won £30. So after an hour I had £70 in my bank, a profit of £20. Not bad at all.

Betting on Arsenal

Arsenal were the firm favourites to beat Fulham with my chosen betting company offering odds of just 2/11 on a home win. There wasn’t much point backing that so I found more value in backing the exact score. I put £5 on Arsenal to win 3-0 at 6/1 and another £3 on 3-1 at 17/2. Arsenal’s defence has been woeful this season so it seemed likely we’d concede but there was virtually no chance we wouldn’t score at least two goals against a Fulham side sitting second from bottom.

Therefore, I put £20 on ‘both teams to score’ at odds of 3 / 4 while I also backed ‘over 2.5 match goals’ at 4/11 with another £20. I always like to have a bet on the goalscorers market so I put the remaining £2 on Aaron Ramsey to score at any-time in the match at 6/1.

After a poor start, Arsenal came strong in the second half and were winning 3-1 in the 79th minute when Aaron Ramsey came off the bench to score a wonderful goal. At the time, all my bets were coming in but Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored a late fourth meaning I missed out on the 3-1 correct score bet. Overall, I won 3 of my bets to bank a total of £76.50, which left me £26.50 up on the game.

Outcome

I had a nice winning streak at blackjack to leave me up at the casino by £20 but Ramsey’s goal for Arsenal meant I made a little more betting on the football after winning £26.50. Maybe next time I’ll keep trying with the fruit machines as you just have to get lucky and hit one of those jackpots to win BIG money!
