Arsenal put-in our worst performance of the season to be thrashed 5-1 by Liverpool at Anfield this evening.

We actually started reasonably well and took a shock lead when Alex Iwobi found Ainsley Maitland-Niles at the far post and the versatile midfielder tapped home to make it 1-0 in the 11th minute.

However, Liverpool equalised in fortuitous circumstances just minutes later when Stephan Lichtsteiner’s attempted clearance deflected off Mo Salah and fell straight to the Roberto Firmino who just tapped in to an empty net for 1-1.

That was unfortunate for Arsenal but our defending just a minute later was embarrassing as we allowed Firmino to walk straight through the middle of our back-line to make it 2-1 before Sadio Mane took advantage of yet more generous defending to make it 3-1.

Sokratis then decided to bundle Salah over in the area in first half stoppage time and Leno couldn’t keep out Salah’s spot kick so we trailed 4-1 at the break.

We started pretty well after half-time but a soft decision led to another Liverpool penalty as Sead Kolasinac was penalised for a push on Lovren. Firmino completed his hat-trick to make it 5-1.
