[Player Ratings] Arsenal 4-2 Tottenham: Aubameyang & Torreira tear Spurs apart

By on December 2, 2018

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored twice as Arsenal won a thrilling North London Derby 4-2 at the Emirates Stadium this afternoon to go fourth in the table.

Aubameyang made it 1-0 from the penalty spot to give a dominant Arsenal side the lead before poor keeping from Bernd Leno gifted Spurs an undeserved equaliser. Mike Dean then did his best to help the visitors out after giving them a dodgy penalty following a Heung-min Son dive – Harry Kane made it 2-1 before the break.

However, Arsenal were rampant in the second half as a stunner from Aubameyang made it 2-2 before goals from Alexandre Lacazette and Lucas Torreira sealed a fully deserved 4-2 win.

Here are my ratings:

Leno  6/10 | Woeful keeping to gift Spurs the equaliser and got away with a flap at a free-kick early in the second half. But he did make a few other solid saves and commanded his area well.

Bellerin  7/10 | A threat down the flank and was excellent for much of the first half but gave away possession cheaply too often in the second half.

Sokratis  7.5/10 | A rock at the back again and barely gave Kane a sniff. Made a couple of big blocks in the second half.

Holding  7/10 | Was unlucky with the penalty as Son dived but should never have slid in like he did as it made it easy for Dean to give the pen. Otherwise a decent performance.

Mustafi  7/10 | Given some problems by Son in the first half but coped well and was clearly up for this game [like all of his team mates]. Limped off in the second half.

Kolasinac  7/10 | A real danger down the left in the first half and could have been involved in a couple of goals if Iwobi’s finishing was better.

Torreira  9/10 | A terrier in midfield. Didn’t give Spurs a minutes rest and scored his first goal with a fine finish to make it 4-2. Sensational display from the South American.

Xhaka  7.5/10 | Alongside Torreira they dominated the midfield for large parts of the game. Kept things moving and disrupted the Tottenham side. Shame he got booked as he’ll now miss the United game.

Iwobi  7/10 | A threat down the left side but his final ball was frustrating at times. Subbed at half-time as Emery switched formation.

Mkhitaryan  7/10 | Saw plenty of the ball in the first half and worked hard but like Iwobi, his final ball was lacking. Off at half time.

Aubameyang  9/10 | Superb performance. Cool penalty, stunning second goal to make it 2-2 and set-up Torreira for the fourth. Also worked his socks off as he made a number of tackles. Best display in an Arsenal shirt.

Lacazette  7.5/10 | Scored the crucial third goal with a deflected strike from the edge of the area. It was fortunate, but we deserved it.

Ramsey  8/10 | Big contribution from the Welshman as he grabbed two vital assists after setting up Aubameyang and Lacazette. Worked hard too.

Guendouzi  7/10 | A decent cameo late on but gets extra marks for sprinting 50 meters to get involved in the scrap in the first half when he was on the subs bench.

The fully deserved win sees Arsenal climb above Tottenham in to fourth on goal difference and extends our unbeaten run to 19 games ahead of our huge trip to Old Trafford to take on Manchester United on Wednesday night.
