Arsenal confirm injury boost but key man ruled out of Tottenham & Man Utd games

By on November 28, 2018

Arsenal have provided the latest team news on Arsenal.com ahead of Thursday evening’s Europa League clash with FC Vorskla and it’s a mixed update from the club.

Let’s start with the positive news and Stephan Lichtsteiner is back in contention to face the Ukrainian outfit after returning to full training following a hamstring injury. The Swiss international’s return is well-timed as Hector Bellerin will be rested against Vorskla tomorrow.

Laurent Koscielny made his long-awaited comeback with a run out for the U23s on Monday night and he’s being assessed by the medical team to see how he responds to his first action since last May. However, the Frenchman isn’t expected to feature against Vorskla.

Alexandre Lacazette missed the 2-1 win over Bournemouth at the weekend due to a minor groin injury but the striker is back in training today – although he won’t be risked in the Europa League as he’ll be saved for Sunday’s clash with Tottenham.

Now for the bad news. Nacho Monreal is set to miss the upcoming Premier League double-header against Tottenham and Manchester United as he’s not expected to return to training for another two weeks due to a niggling hamstring problem.

Monreal hasn’t played since early October after missing the last eight matches due to the hamstring complaint and it seems the Spaniard is set to sit out at least another four games, which is a huge blow.

Elsewhere, Dinos Mavropanos is also still on the sidelines with a groin problem while Danny Welbeck is facing a long road to recovery after undergoing surgery on a broken ankle.
