[Player ratings] Arsenal 1-1 Wolves: Leno shines but Xhaka woeful

By on November 11, 2018

Henrikh Mkhitaryan came off the bench to score a late equaliser as Arsenal snatched a barely deserved point against Wolves at the Emirates this afternoon.

Granit Xhaka’s mistake led to the Wolves goal in the 13th minute and Arsenal struggled for much of the game with Bernd Leno making several saves to keep us in it. However, we grabbed a point in the 86th minute when Mkhitaryan’s cross found the back of the net for 1-1.

Here are my ratings:

Leno  8.5/10 | Made a couple of great saves in the first half and another excellent stop late on to prevent Wolves running away with it. Then made a vital save to deny Traore in the dying minute at 1-1. Says everything that he was our best player.

Bellerin  5.5/10 | Blazed a great chance to equalise over the bar. It was on his left foot but he should still have hit the target. Final ball was poor at times too and passing was sloppy.

Holding  6/10 | Looked nervy at times against a dangerous Wolves attack.

Mustafi  6.5/10 | Could have done better for the goal but made a couple of important challenges.

Kolasinac  5.5/10 | Saw plenty of the ball going forward but his crossing was disappointing and too predictable. Exposed in defence at times.

Torreira  7.5/10 | Tested the keeper with a decent long-range effort. Did his job in front of the defence well and covered plenty of ground. Neat with his passing.

Xhaka  4/10 | Woeful mistake led to the opening goal. Completely switched off and it’s those lapses in concentration that make him a liability at times.

Iwobi  5.5/10 | Plenty of willing but final ball was poor and just wasn’t his day at all. Hauled off at half time as Emery switched formation.

Ozil  5/10 | Struggled to create anything of note during a frustrating performance. Subbed off with 15 minutes to go.

Lacazette  5.5/10 | Some decent link-up play and had a goal-bound shot blocked in the first half but was otherwise a frustrating night.

Aubameyang  5/10 | Somehow managed to clip the post from six yards with an open goal waiting for him. Huge miss from the usually reliable Gabon hitman.

Guendouzi  6/10 | Neat and tidy but not sure he was the best sub to make at half-time.

Ramsey  5/10 | Missed a great chance to score just before the equaliser.

Mkhitaryan  6.5/10 | Grabbed the equaliser as his cross found the back of the net.
