Arsenal have been handed a huge injury boost with Sead Kolasinac returning to full training today to ease Unai Emery’s headache at left-back.
Kolasinac has missed our last three game with a hamstring injury that he sustained in training on the eve of our Premier League clash with Leicester City last Monday night.
The Bosnian international sat out the subsequent matches against Sporting Lisbon and Crystal Palace, and his absence was sorely missed as Nacho Monreal has also been on the sidelines for the past week with a hamstring issue.
Stephan Lichtsteiner and Granit Xhaka have been forced to deputise at left-back during their absence but we’ve looked vulnerable down that flank so fans were extremely anxious about Saturday’s Premier League clash with Liverpool.
The prospect of Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane being up against Xhaka or Lichtsteiner was a frightening one but thankfully we’ve been handed a boost as Kolasinac was able to resume full training this afternoon, according to Football London.
The photo above shows Kolasinac walking out to training with Shkodran Mustafi and Mesut Ozil today and Football London says the full-back took part in the full session at London Colney.
I highly doubt Emery will risk him for our Carabao Cup clash with Blackpool on Wednesday night but it looks like Kolasinac has won his race to be fit to face Liverpool on Saturday evening.
It remains to be seen whether Monreal will return to boost our options further but Arsenal are also sweating over the fitness of Hector Bellerin as he’s a doubt after picking up a thigh problem against Palace.
Midfielder Mohamed Elneny has also been ruled out with a thigh injury and although he won’t be missed against Liverpool, the Egyptian would have probably started against Blackpool and against Sporting Lisbon next week so it’s a blow to lose him.
