Team News: Arsenal handed major fitness boost ahead of Fulham clash
Arsenal have been handed a major boost as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been passed fit to return for our trip to Craven Cottage to take on Fulham on Sunday afternoon.
The Gabon international was forced to miss Thursday’s trip to Azerbaijan where we beat Qarabag in the Europa League group stages after going down with a sickness bug last week.
However, Aubameyang was able to return to training with the rest of the squad at London Colney this afternoon and he’s now been passed fit and available for selection to face Fulham tomorrow.
The forward’s return to fitness will come as a huge boost as Aubameyang is a key player for us and I expect him to start in attack at Craven Cottage on Sunday afternoon – probably on the left wing if Alexandre Lacazette starts up front.
We’ve also had a positive update on Ainsley Maitland-Niles as the club have revealed he should be back in full training during the second week of the international break as he looks to return from a fractured leg that he suffered against Man City at the start of the season.
However, otherwise the injury situation remains the same. Petr Cech will be out for 3-4 weeks with a hamstring injury that he suffered during the win over Watford last weekend while young defender Dinos Mavropanos won’t be back in training until the end of the month due to a groin problem.
Laurent Koscielny is also still working his way back to full fitness from an Achilles injury that he sustained during the closing stages of last season and the Frenchman is due back in training at some point in November.
