Team news: Arsenal confirm injury boost ahead of Watford + Koscielny update
Arsenal get back to Premier League action when we take on Watford at the Emirates on Saturday afternoon and we’ve confirmed a huge injury boost ahead of the game.
Sokratis limped out of the win over Everton last weekend after suffering a dead leg and the Greek international wasn’t involved during the Carabao Cup win over Brentford in midweek.
However, a team news update on Arsenal.com has confirmed this afternoon that the centre-back is now available for selection again so Sokratis is expected to return to the middle of defence against Watford tomorrow.
It wasn’t all positive news though as Emile Smith Rowe is a doubt this weekend after picking up a minor hip injury during the League Cup victory on Wednesday night – although a place on the bench against Watford was probably the best he could hope for if fit.
Ainsley Maitland-Niles is still working his way back to full fitness from a fractured leg that he sustained during the opening weekend of the season and the versatile midfielder is expected to return in early October.
Dinos Mavropanos is also out as the young centre-back continues to recover from a groin injury that will keep him on the sidelines until the end of next month.
The final update is on Laurent Koscielny and the Frenchman is continuing his rehabilitation from Achilles surgery and is hoping to be back in full training at some point in November.
Here is what the update said on Arsenal.com:
