‘Baller’, ‘has to start’ – Arsenal fans demand player starts after Cardiff performance
Arsenal fans have been calling for Unai Emery to make Alexandre Lacazette a regular starter after he scored the winner during our 3-2 victory over Cardiff City this afternoon.
Lacazette enjoyed a solid debut season at the Emirates after scoring 17 goals last year following his arrival from Lyon in 2017 but the French international has struggled to establish himself under new boss Emery.
The striker was named as a substitute in each of our opening three games but after impressing off the bench, fans have been calling on Emery to start Lacazette alongside Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in attack.
The boss finally made the call today at the Cardiff City Stadium as Lacazette started up front with Aubameyang out on the wing and it paid off as both players got themselves on the score-sheet.
Lacazette in particular was excellent as he linked up with Auba to assist his superb goal midway through the second half before capping a Man of the Match performance with a superb winner in the 81st minute.
Supporters on Twitter have now been demanding Emery gives Lacazette a regular run in the side as it’s clear he is a huge goal threat and his performances warrant a starting spot up front.
He has a great understanding developing with Aubameyang and although I do think it leaves us a little more open defensively when they both play, there can be no doubt we’ll score a lot more goals at the other end.
Fans have also been calling for Lucas Torreira to be handed a starting role after another impressive cameo off the bench while Emery is under pressure to bring-in Bernd Leno as Petr Cech continues to struggle with playing out from the back.
Check out what fans have been saying about Lacazette on Twitter after his heroics in Cardiff:
Lacazette is a baller. Has to start from now on

5 goals in last 5 league starts for Lacazette. Surely Emery must keep him in the side. He's also showing he's a better player when he has someone alongside him – some great first-time passes and flicks today (mainly when Aubameyang came more central)

Lacazette, Torreira and Leno have to start next game

I want Aubameyang & Lacazette to start every game from now on

What an amazing finish from Lacazette. Maybe we should start him a bit more??

See what happens when we start Lacazette and Aubameyang together?

Maybe Lacazette should start now, instead of being benched and brought on at 70th min ?
— Ese (@virtual_ese) September 2, 2018
From now on Aubameyang and Lacazette start together, and Torreira starts too.

Leno, Torreira and Lacazette have to start week in week out ffs !!! @Arsenal sort it out
— David (@David_Moro1) September 2, 2018
Start Lacazette every match now @Arsenal
— Shaz (@Shahbabes) September 2, 2018
