[Photos] Bellerin tussles with Ozil as key Arsenal man returns to training
Arsenal have been handed a timely boost ahead of our trip to Cardiff City this weekend as Mesut Ozil is back in full training following ‘illness’.
Ozil missed last weekends 3-1 comeback victory over West Ham at the Emirates after apparently catching a cold which forced him to sit out training on Friday ahead of the game.
Widespread reports in the media claimed Ozil had called-in sick following a row with Unai Emery on the training pitch on Thursday after he was told he was going to be on the bench against West Ham.
Emery obviously denied these rumours and claimed the 29-year-old was genuinely ill – although he did concede Ozil was well-enough to spend an hour in the changing room before the game.
Understandably fans are skeptical as it was the eighth time Ozil has been ‘sick’ in the last three years while no other player has missed a game through illness more than once during the same period.
Either way, Ozil was back on the training pitches with the rest of the first team squad on Wednesday as we prepare for Sunday’s trip to Wales to take on newly-promoted Cardiff City.
It looks like Ozil was putting the work in on the practice ground as he tussled with Hector Bellerin but it’s going to be interesting to see if Emery starts the German playmaker this weekend or leaves him on the bench.
