[Photos] Arsenal handed major injury boost as key man returns ahead of Man City
Arsenal have been handed a major injury boost with Aaron Ramsey returning to full training today ahead of our Premier League opener against Manchester City.
We welcome the defending champions to the Emirates on Sunday afternoon and Ramsey was considered a doubt after picking up an injury prior to our pre-season friendly with Chelsea last week.
The Welsh international suffered a minor calf problem in the pre-match warm-up and sat out our win over Lazio at the weekend in order to continue his recovery.
However, we’ve been handed a huge boost as Ramsey was able to return to full training at London Colney today and is now expected to be fit to face City this weekend.
Sead Kolasinac will obviously miss the game and several others after being ruled out for up to 10 weeks with a knee injury that he suffered on Sunday afternoon.
Danny Welbeck is back in training following his exploits at the World Cup while Nacho Monreal is back in light training after a minor knee problem. The Spaniard isn’t expected to feature this weekend so Ainsley Maitland-Niles should start at left-back.
New signings Bernd Leno, Stephan Lichtsteiner, Sokratis, Lucas Torreira and Matteo Guendouzi will all be hoping to make their Premier League debuts this weekend.
