Arsenal favourites to land Emery’s ‘dream’ signing this summer

By on July 26, 2018

According to the latest odds, Arsenal are the clear favourites to sign Barcelona attacker Ousmane Dembele who is reportedly Unai Emery’s ‘dream’ signing this summer.

Emery has admitted he’s still in the market for another big signing if an opportunity comes up and the boss is being tipped to bring in an attacker after focussing his attention on strengthening our defence so far.

We’ve signed goalkeeper Bernd Leno, right-back Stephan Lichtsteiner, centre-back Sokratis and central midfield duo Lucas Torreira and Matteo Guendouzi since Emery replaced Arsene Wenger in the hot-seat.

However, we have a distinct lack of pace in wide areas so Arsenal chiefs are reportedly keen to bring in a winger before the window closes on August 9th and TeamTalk claim that Dembele is regarded as the ‘dream’ signing.

The report carried quotes from Football London journalist Charlie Watts who said the club would love to sign the French international but a loan deal is the only realistic possibility due to his hefty valuation.

Watts is quoted as saying by TeamTalk:

“Demebele on his own would cost far more than whatever money comes in from those potential sales,”

“Mislintat/Emery would love Dembele, that would be his dream signing and he would slot in perfectly as well.

“But unless Barca decide to send him out on loan, it’s not going to happen.”

There has been plenty of speculation in the media regarding a possible move for Dembele and that has led to Arsenal being installed as the bookmakers favourites to land the 21-year-old.

BetStars have Arsenal as the 3/1 clear favourites ahead of Liverpool at 8/1 and PSG at 10’s to sign Dembele this summer. Director of Trading Ian Marmion said:

“After Barcelona announced the signing of Malcom, Ousmane Dembele could be looking for a switch away from the La Liga champions, with Arsenal the most likely team to land the forward.

“The Gunners are priced as the 3/1 favourites to land the Frenchman. Unai Emery’s side have been busy so far this transfer window, already making five signings, and the odds suggest Dembele could be the next star to join their ranks. Liverpool are also in the hunt at 8/1, whilst Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain are ranked as outsiders, valued at 10/1 and 16/1 respectively.”

Obviously we’d all love to see Dembele join Arsenal as he’d be a sensational addition to the squad. He was one of the best young talents in world football when he join Barcelona from Borussia Dortmund in a deal that could reach around £140m.

His time at the Nou Camp has been hampered by a hamstring injury and he’s going to find himself further down the pecking order following the arrival of Malcom from Bordeaux so they may be open to letting him leave and it seems Arsenal are leading the chase for his signature.
