Star responds to reports he could join Arsenal in £45m deal this summer

By on July 24, 2018

According to TeamTalk, Kingsley Coman has responded to reports linking him with a £45m move to Arsenal and it looks like the deal is dead in the water as the winger insists he’s happy at Bayern Munich.

Unai Emery is reportedly looking to sign a pacey winger before the start of the season after spending around £70m strengthening his defence/midfield and Coman emerged as an ambitious target.

French outlet BeIN Sports claimed last week that Arsenal were ready to launch a £45m bid to sign Coman after Emery identified the French international as the man to add some depth on the wings.

Arsenal were linked with Coman when he left Paris Saint-Germain for Juventus in 2014 and again when he joined Bayern on an initial loan deal the following year and it seems the club were ready to renew our interest again this summer.

There was a feeling Bayern may be tempted to cash-in as the 22-year-old spent a large part of last season on the sidelines with a serious ankle injury and it remains to be seen whether he’s in new boss Niko Kovac’s plans for the coming campaign.

However, Coman appears to have shot-down any hope luring him to north London as the attacker claims he’s not had any contact with Arsenal and insists he sees his long-term future at Bayern.

Coman is quoted as saying by TeamTalk:

“That’s not true. I’ve had no contact with Arsenal. I’ve just extended my contract here at Bayern and I’m planning to stay for many more years.”

Obviously things can change quickly in football as Bayern may tell Coman he’s no longer wanted [which is unlikely] but I must admit I’m disappointed by his comments as I would love to see him join Arsenal.

We desperately need to strengthen out wide as the squad lacks any genuine pace/width and Coman would have been a superb signing but it looks as though we face a tough fight persuading him to leave the Allianz Arena.
