Arsenal ready to swoop for £35m star, selling club already planning for departure

By on June 18, 2018

According to reports in Spain via the Daily Star, Arsenal are lining-up a swoop for Steven N’Zonzi this summer and Sevilla have already found a replacement for the £35m-rated midfielder.

Arsenal need to strengthen throughout the squad as we finished a lowly sixth in the Premier League last season and we’re currently being backed by the bookmakers to finish outside the top four for a third consecutive year. Those who want to learn more about sports betting should know the bookies rarely get it wrong, so if they think we’re not one of the four best teams in England right now, then we need to make some signings this summer.

One thing we do know is Unai Emery is in the market for a new midfielder as Santi Cazorla has left for Villarreal while Jack Wilshere is also being tipped to leave on a free transfer after failing to agree terms over a new contract. We’ve been linked with a number of players in recent weeks but N’Zonzi has emerged as a target and the Daily Star are citing a report from AS that claims Arsenal are showing a keen interest in signing the French international.

The Spanish publication says Sevilla are already planning for life without N’Zonzi after lining-up Real Madrid midfielder Marcos Llorente as a replacement.  However, they will demand Arsenal pay the full value of the 29-year-old’s £35m release clause if they’re to part company with the player this summer.

N’Zonzi is currently at the World Cup in Russia with the French squad so any potential deal won’t happen any time soon but I think he’d be an excellent addition to the squad if we were able to lure him to the Emirates Stadium over the coming weeks.

The former Blackburn Rovers and Stoke City midfielder has experience playing in the Premier League and the 6ft 5in star would add a real presence to the team in the middle of the park.

Emery obviously knows N’Zonzi well from their time together at Sevilla where they won the Europa League so it looks like he’s ready to be reunited in north London this summer and his signing could transform us in to a top four team again.

However, £35m for a player who’s approaching 30 is a lot for Arsenal and with various reports suggesting we’re also in for Sampdoria’s Lucas Torreira, I’d be surprised if anything came of these N’Zonzi rumours.
