[Photos] Elneny & Mkhitaryan back in training as Arsenal prepare for Man Utd trip
Henrikh Mkhitaryan took part in full training today ahead of Arsenal’s trip to Manchester United while Mohamed Elneny also made a surprise appearance at London Colney.
Mkhitaryan is back in contention to face his former side after recovering from a knee ligament injury that’s kept him out of our last five games in all competitions.
The Armenian international suffered the injury against CSKA Moscow over three weeks ago but was back in full training today so should make his comeback at Old Trafford.
Elneny was expected to miss the rest of the season after damaging ankle ligaments during our 4-1 win over West Ham at the Emirates last weekend.
However, the Egyptian midfielder has surprisingly been snapped back out on the training pitches at London Colney today as he looks to make a swift return to action.
Elneny trained on his own away from the rest of the first team and won’t play any part against United but it’s encouraging to see he’s well on the road to recovery already.
Youngsters Reiss Nelson, Eddie Nketiah, Joe Willock, Kostantinos Mavropanos and Jordi Osei-Tutu were all part of first team training today as Arsene Wenger looks to field a weakened side against United.
The boss needs to protect his key men ahead of the Atletico Madrid game on Thursday so we should see plenty of changes to the starting eleven tomorrow afternoon.
