Arsenal set to beat rivals to signing of highly-rated attacking midfielder
According to the Mirror, Arsenal are expected to beat Manchester City to the signing of Barcelona’s highly-rated midfielder Robert Navarro this summer.
Navarro is one of the latest stars to emerge from Barcelona’s La Masia academy and he’s been tipped to become a star of the future having impressed at youth level.
However, the midfielders future at the Nou Camp is in serious doubt as he turned 16 last week and has still not signed his first professional contract after failing to agree terms with the Catalans.
Navarro is now free to join another club with only a minor compensation fee being rewarded to Barca and Arsenal have been strongly linked with a swoop for the talented teen in recent months.
The Daily Mail, via the Mirror, claim Arsenal are now expected to beat Man City to the signing of Navarro after the newly-crowned Premier League champions cooled their interest in the player.
The newspaper suggests Navarro is ready to turn down Barcelona’s final contract offer and a move to north London could now be on the cards over the coming weeks.
Navarro is a central midfielder who’s known for his excellent ball skills – which is not surprising given he’s graduated from La Masia – so it would be something of a coup if we could lure him to the Emirates.
If Navarro does join Arsenal he’ll follow in the foot steps of the likes of Cesc Fabregas and Hector Bellerin in swapping Catalan for north London.
It’s become something of a trend for Barca to lose their rising stars lately as highly-rated youngsters Adama Traore, Alex Grimaldo and Gerard Gumbau have all ditched the Spanish giants in recent months.
