Arsenal drawn to face Atletico Madrid in Europa League semi-finals
Arsenal have been drawn to face Atletico Madrid in the semi-finals of the Europa League.
We progressed to the last four thanks to a 6-3 aggregate victory over CSKA Moscow following a 2-2 draw last night but we made life difficult for ourselves.
Heading in to the second leg holding a 4-1 lead, we were in real danger of going out when CSKA led 2-0 after 50 minutes last night meaning another home goal would send us out on away goals.
However, Welbeck stepped-up to score a wonderful goal before Ramsey grabbed a 2-2 draw in injury time to book our place in the last four.
The draw was conducted this morning and predictably we’ve been pitted against Atletico – which was easily the hardest draw we could have got.
The first leg will be on the 26th April at the Emirates while the second leg in Spain is on the 3rd May.
Unfortunately we face a trip to Manchester United in between but no doubt Wenger will rest some of his key men.
