Wilshere injury blow: Arsenal star out of England game after fresh setback
Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere has failed to travel to Amsterdam for England’s friendly with Holland after picking up an injury in training today.
Wilshere was hoping to play his first game for his country since Euro 2016 tomorrow night to boost his chances of making Gareth Southgate’s squad ahead of the World Cup.
The 26-year-old has trained all week with the England squad so he was in-line to feature against Holland, however, he wasn’t among the players that flew out to Amsterdam this afternoon.
The Daily Mail claim Wilshere picked up an injury in training this morning but no further details have been provided as to the seriousness of the problem [at the time of writing].
We should learn more when England boss Southgate holds his pre-match press conference later this evening.
The newspaper tweeted:

We’ll have to wait for further news but this is a huge setback for Jack as he would have been desperate to impress for England tomorrow and play his way back in to Southgate’s plans.
Wilshere has been enjoying his first injury-free campaign for several years and he’s been starting to get back to something likes his best form again just in time for the World Cup.
However, depending on the severity of this latest injury, he could be facing a race against time to get himself 100 fit in time for Russia.
