Team News: Wenger confirms Arsenal trio will miss Watford clash, duo also doubts
Arsene Wenger has provided a team news update ahead of Arsenal’s Premier League clash with Watford at the Emirates on Sunday afternoon.
The boss has confirmed that Sead Kolasinac is a doubt this weekend after being forced off with an ankle injury during our Europa League win in Milan last night.
The Bosnian international’s availability will be important as Nacho Monreal is still missing due to a back injury that’s kept him out since the Carabao Cup final – although Wenger is hoping he’ll be available for the second leg against Milan.
We also have concerns at right-back as Hector Bellerin will miss the visit of Watford on Sunday with a knee injury that kept him out of the trip to Italy yesterday.
Calum Chambers has filled-in over the past two games and although he limped off with cramp against Milan, Wenger expects him to be fit to face Watford this weekend.
Alexandre Lacazette hasn’t played for almost a month after undergoing knee surgery and while he’s beck in light training, the striker isn’t expected back until after the upcoming international break.
Wenger told Arsenal.com:
on the team news…
Sead Kolasinac has an ankle problem, but we don’t rule him out for Sunday yet. Calum Chambers had cramps, because he played in a position which he is not used to for a centre back. He should be OK though.on Nacho Monreal…
Nacho Monreal is on a good way, he could be available again for next Thursday.on Hector Bellerin…
Hector Bellerin we don’t know yet, we have to see. He is not available for the weekend though.on Alexandre Lacazette…
Alexandre Lacazette has his first run today, but won’t be back until after the international break.
Let’s pray that Kolasinac is passed fit otherwise we have a real problem at left-back with Ainsley Maitland-Niles on stand-by for a recall if the Bosnian is ruled out.
