Arsenal closing-in on huge £89m double swoop for attacking duo

By on January 14, 2018

According to a report in the Express, Arsenal are closing in on a stunning £89m double swoop for Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Bordeaux winger Malcom.

Arsene Wenger has confirmed that Alexis Sanchez’s future will be resolved in the next couple of days with Manchester United now emerging as favourites to sign the Chilean international.

Malcom has been strongly linked with a move to the Emirates in recent days with many assuming the Bordeaux attacker is being lined-up as a replacement for Sanchez.

The Express are one of several outlets who claim that a £45m deal could be wrapped-up this coming week after Malcom’s agents held talks with Arsenal in London this weekend.

The 20-year-old has been in excellent form for Bordeaux this season and is considered as one of the most exciting young attackers in Europe so he’d be a hugely exciting addition to the squad.

Sky Sports pundit Guillem Balague confirmed yesterday that Arsenal are in for Malcom but claimed that we’re also lining-up a more established player to replace Alexis.

Balague is quoted as saying by the Express:

“He’s [Malcom] a raw diamond, if you like. What Arsenal see is a guy with so much pace.

“He’s so quick. He’s left-footed, plays from the right-hand side but he lacks work, commitment without the ball and a lot of things you have to work with him to develop.

“He’s not the finished product. What they want to do if Alexis goes – or when Alexis goes – is to replace him with a guaranteed player that can start for Arsenal. That’s the aim.

“They think they’ve got somebody and Malcom is certainly a possibility for the near future but not the one to replace Alexis.”

Balague has now taken to Twitter this evening to reveal who the mystery player is and claims that Arsenal are trying to sign Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Borussia Dortmund in a £53m deal.

He tweeted:

“Arsenal want to close soon deal for Aubameyang, left out of squad today, for €60m [£53m].”

The Gabon international has been one of the most prolific strikers in Europe over the past few years and has netted 21 times in 23 appearances this season alone so he’s obviously give us another huge threat in the final third.

The 28-year-old is pace to burn and I think he’d be a sensational signing if we can get a deal agreed – especially at £53m as that seems like a very reasonable fee in today’s market.

So it looks like we’re trying to pull-off a stunning £89m double swoop for two top quality attackers. Aubameyang is being lined-up to replace Sanchez while I think Malcom is actually to replace Theo Walcott – who’s expected to leave this month.

Let’s see what happens but it looks like it’s going to be a busy week in north London…
