Arsenal table offer to sign talented South American attacker – report
According to a report in the Express, Arsenal have made an offer to sign Barcelona attacker Rafinha after Arsene Wenger identified him as a possible replacement for Mesut Ozil.
The German international has still not signed a new contract so it’s looking increasingly likely that Ozil will leave the club on a free transfer when his deal expires in the summer.
We need to have a plan in place for Mesut’s impending departure and it looks as though the boss has set his sights on Barcelona’s out-of-favour attacker, Rafinha.
The Express cites a report from Don Balon that claims Arsenal have put forward an offer for the 24-year-old and are hoping to lure him to north London with the promise of a fresh start.
The report doesn’t stipulate what we’ve offered but it suggests that we’ve gone straight to the players camp so we’d also need to settle on a fee with Barca if we could persuade the Brazilian to come to the Emirates.
Rafinha came through the Barca youth academy but has struggled to force his way in to the starting eleven with injuries also not helping his cause as a knee problem has kept him on the sidelines so far this campaign.
However, even when he’s fit Rafinha is going to struggle for game-time and the Express claim he is keen to leave the Nou Camp in search of regular first team football.
Rafinha is an attacking midfielder but he can also play out wide and is a hugely talented footballer so I think he’d be an exciting addition to the squad if we could get a deal agreed.
But we aren’t the only team in the running as the newspaper says Inter Milan and Celta Vigo are among the clubs also chasing his signature so there is still a long way to go before his future is decided.

Seeing is believing. Arsenal have been linked with a crap load of players. And so far we bought a unknown boy. Arsenal is not going to buy Evans, Rafinha, malcolm, Mahrez, lemar. Arsenal don’t have money and no body wants to play at arsenal
