Confirmed: Arsenal pull-off major coup after confirming arrival of Sven Mislintat
Arsenal have pulled off a major coup after confirming on Arsenal.com that Sven Mislintat has joined the club from Borussia Dortmund.
Mislintat is one of Europe’s most respected scouts in the business and has been the brains behind Dortmund’s success over the past decade.
The 44-year-old has overseen the recruitment of players like Robert Lewandowski, Shinji Kagawa, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Ousmane Dembele over recent years.
News emerged last week that we were in advanced talks with Dortmund about nabbing Mislintat and the club have now confirmed his arrival this afternoon.
A statement on Arsenal.com said he will join the club in December and will work closely with Arsene Wenger and Ivan Gazidis after being appointed as our new head of recruitment.
Arsène Wenger seemed pleased with Mislintat’s capture, telling the clubs website:
“We are delighted that Sven is joining us. Identifying and developing talent is a core part of our philosophy and Sven has an outstanding track record over many years. We look forward to him taking our existing recruitment approach forwards.”
This is a hugely exciting appointment and it should hopefully rejuvenate our scouting and player recruitment department – which has been sterile for many years.
Mislintat’s arrival will see long-serving scout Steve Rowley step down from his role after working for Arsenal for over 25 years but he’ll stay on as an ad hoc scout on a consultancy basis.
