Arsene Wenger confirms these 3 players will start against Red Star Belgrade
Arsene Wenger has confirmed that Theo Walcott, Olivier Giroud and Jack Wilshere will all start for Arsenal against Red Star Belgrade tomorrow night.
We welcome the Serbian giants to the Emirates in our fourth Europa League group stage game on Thursday night and the boss is set to once again rotate his starting eleven.
Wenger has fielded a weakened side in all three of our group games so far with the fringe players and youngsters given a chance to impress and the first teamers rested for Premier League duty.
The likes of Mesut Ozil, Alexandre Lacazette and Alexis Sanchez have been impressing in the league in recent weeks as they begin to build an understanding together in attack.
However, the manager says he has no temptation to start our attacking trio against Belgrade and confirmed that Walcott, Giroud and Wilshere will all be recalled tomorrow.
Speaking at his press conference today, when asked if he will rotate again or if the likes of Ozil, Sanchez or Lacazette will play, Wenger is quoted as saying by the Express:
“I want to stick to that at the moment. No (temptation to play Ozil, Sanchez or Lacazette),”
“We have Walcott, Wilshere, Giroud. We have competition, they all want competition.
“All are in competitive shape and that should be an advantage for the rest of the season.”
It makes perfect sense for Wenger to rest our big guns and give the likes of Wilshere, Walcott and Giroud a run out in Europe and I was surprised a journalist even asked if Ozil/Sanchez/Laca would play tomorrow.
We are on the verge of qualification to the knockout stages of the Europa and have a huge trip to Man City coming up on Sunday so of course the boss is going to give our key men a rest!
As well as Wilshere, Walcott and Giroud, I also expect we’ll see Mathieu Debuchy, Rob Holding, Mohamed Elneny, Reiss Nelson, Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Francis Coquelin come back in to the side tomorrow.
