Arsenal could pay £17.8m buyout clause after making enquiry for Spanish winger

By on October 27, 2017

According to the Mirror, Arsenal are considering meeting Jose Arnaiz’s £17.8m buyout clause after making an official enquiry for the Barcelona winger.

Arnaiz emerged as one of the hottest young properties in Spanish football after coming through the youth ranks at Valladolid and earned a £2.1m switch to Barca last summer.

The 22-year-old has been starring for the Barca B team with 4 goals in his 8 appearances so far and made his first team debut in the Copa del Ray clash against Murcia in midweek.

Arnaiz marked his full debut with a well taken goal during a 3-0 win and it seems his potential has caught the eye of Gunners boss Arsene Wenger.

The Mirror are citing a report from Mundo Deportivo that claims Arsenal have made a formal enquiry to sign the young winger after making contact with his agent, Rene Ramos.

The Spanish publication goes on to say that Wenger is now considering meeting Arnaiz’s £17.8m buyout clause in a bid to lure him away from the Nou Camp to north London.

It would be something of a coup if we were able to convince the youngster to leave Barca for Arsenal and I’m sure Wenger will promise him a faster route to the first team than he’ll get in Spain.

However, if Arnaiz does decide to leave the Catalan giants, then we’ll face stiff competition as the report indicates that Manchester United, Juventus, Napoli and Bayern Munich are also monitoring his situation.

Arnaiz sounds like he has a big future ahead of him but I personally think Arsenal will find it difficult to prise him away from Barca just months after he joined the club.
