33-year-old starts as Wenger makes 11 changes: My Arsenal line-up v Swansea
Arsenal get back to Premier League action when we take on Swansea City at the Emirates on Saturday afternoon. Here is the team I’d like to see Arsene Wenger select….
Goalkeeper: Cech
Cech dropped a clanger against Everton last weekend but he’s still easily our best goalkeeper. Youngster Macey made his debut in the League Cup in midweek but with Ospina still out injured, Cech should start tomorrow.
Defence: Koscielny, Mertesacker, Monreal
Wenger once again gave our first team regulars a night off on Tuesday evening with the second string facing Norwich so I expect there will be plenty of changes to the defence.
Debuchy put in another solid shit on his second start of the season while Holding did alright too but Elneny was badly caught out for the Norwich goal the other night proving again that he’s not a centre-back.
Mustafi isn’t expected back until after the upcoming international break and Chambers is only back in light training so Monreal, Koscielny and Mertesacker should all get recalls tomorrow.
Midfield: Bellerin, Ramsey, Xhaka, Kolasinac
Wilshere wasn’t as influential against Norwich as he was versus Red Star Belgrade but it was still great to see him get almost 120 minutes under his belt.
In time, I’d love to see him as a regular starter but for now I think we should continue with Ramsey alongside Xhaka in the middle of the park. I just hope Granit can cut out the silly mistakes!
On the wings, we should once again see Kolasinac and Bellerin replacing Nelson and Maitland-Niles while thankfully we’ll also see Coquelin dropping out. He was terrible against Norwich.
Attack: Ozil, Sanchez, Lacazette
It’s safe to say Walcott and Giroud didn’t take their chances to impress in midweek as both were woeful against Norwich in the Carabao Cup while Iwobi didn’t really do himself any favours either.
The hero of the night was youngster Eddie Nketiah but the 18-year-old shouldn’t be rushed in to Premier League action just yet. Let’s give him time to develop in the cups.
I’m excited to see our attacking trio of Sanchez, Ozil and Lacazette playing together again as they were excellent against Everton last week so I expect them all to be recalled tomorrow.
This would be my team:
