23-year-old to make debut: My Arsenal line-up v Norwich
Arsenal play host to Norwich City in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night. Here is the team I’d like to see Arsene Wenger select….
Goalkeeper: Macey
Ospina is out with a groin injury so Wenger has a big decision to make in goal. Does he risk Cech getting injured in a League Cup game or throw a youngster in? For me, I’d definitely rest Cech and hand 23-year-old Matt Macey his debut. It will be a big occasion for the youngster but we can’t risk Cech with Ospina injured.
Defence: Debuhcy, Mertesacker, Holding
It will be all-change at the back as we look to protect our first team regulars so I would give Koscielny and Monreal the night off but we might need to call upon Mertesacker as Mustafi and Chambers are injured.
Holding is certain to come in and Debuchy is now an option after putting in a solid display against Red Star Belgrade last week but I think we need Per to tighten-up the defence.
Midfield: Nelson, Wilshere, Coquelin, Maitland-Niles
Wilshere played further forward against Belgrade in the Europa League but I’d like to see him drop deeper in to midfield as that’s where he should be playing for the first team – if he can continue to stay fit.
It’s a toss up between Elneny or Coquelin to partner Jack as Ramsey and Xhaka should be rested ahead of the weekend clash with Swansea.
I think Ainsley Maitland-Niles is wasted in the left wing-back position but Wenger isn’t going to start him in the middle while Nelson should get another run-out on the right.
Attack: Walcott, Iwobi, Giroud
Our front three were outstanding at Goodison Park at the weekend and I hope that’s a sign of things to come from the Sanchez, Ozil, Lacazette combination. Obviously all three should be rested tomorrow.
Iwobi wasn’t used at Everton on Sunday so he’ll be fresh to get a recall while Walcott should also come back in to the attack tomorrow night.
Giroud showed his class with a spectacular overhead kick at Belgrade last week so he’ll be the man to lead the line up front in the absence of the injured Welbeck.
This is the team that I’d go for:
