Arsenal open talks with agent of La Liga attacker over January move
According to a report in the Mirror, Arsenal have opened talks with Arda Turan’s agent to discuss a potential move from Barcelona during the January transfer window.
Turan has struggled to establish himself at the Nou Camp since joining Barca from Atletico Madrid and he made just 14 La Liga appearances last season.
The 30-year-old was expected to leave during the summer and was strongly linked with Arsenal with the Express reporting in June that we tabled a £26m bid.
However, a move failed to materialise and Turan ended up staying at Barca where he’s continued to struggle for game-time with the attacker not featuring in any of their first 11 games this season.
Understandably, the lack of action is taking its toll on the player with Turan recently admitting that he’s finding life difficult on the sidelines at the Nou Camp.
Turan is quoted as saying by the Mirror:
“It has been a while since I played and it is not easy.”
It’s all led to rumours that the Turkish international will seek a move when the transfer window reopens in January and once again Arsenal are being linked with his signature.
The Mirror are citing reports from Turkey that claim Arsenal chiefs have already opened talks with Turan’s agent to discuss a potential move to the Emirates this winter.
With Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil both expected to leave when their contracts expire next summer Wenger is going to need to strengthen his attacking options and it seems Turan is on his radar.
However, we’ll face stiff competition for his signature as the report says former club Galatasaray are also desperate to lure Turan back to his homeland.
