[Video] Reiss Nelson scores stunning free-kick as Arsenal beat Man Utd U23s
Arsenal wonderkid Reiss Nelson continued to stake his claim for a place in the first-team squad after scoring a superb free-kick during a 2-0 win over Manchester United U23’s last night.
Nelson has been knocked at Arsene Wenger’s door in recent weeks after enjoying an excellent start to the season while he also impressed while playing for the first team in pre-season.
The 17-year-old continued his fine form last night as he opened the scoring against United U23s with a stunning free-kick that curled in to the top corner from a tight angle.
The boss has already hinted that Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s move to Liverpool could open the door for youngsters like Nelson to step-up in to the first team and it surely can’t be long before Nelson is given an opportunity.
Last night’s goal was his sixth for the U23s already this season and he was named as the U23 Premier League Player of the Month for August yesterday.
Josh Da Silva got our second goal against United last night with another free-kick to make it three wins from four games for Steve Gatting’s side.
