Arsenal table record £90m offer after agreeing £60m Sanchez deal

By on August 31, 2017

According to the Daily Mail, Arsenal have tabled a sensational British record £90m bid for Thomas Lemar as Arsene Wenger looks for a replacement for Alexis Sanchez.

Our Chilean super star looks increasingly likely to leave today as the Mirror claim we have now accepted their £60m offer – which would see them pay £55m up front with £5m in add ons.

That’s a reasonable deal for a player who has just one year left on his deal but the proposed sale of Sanchez hinges on Arsenal signing a replacement.

Lemar has been linked with a move to Arsenal all summer and the Daily Mail claim we’ve now launched a stunning £90m bid to sign the Monaco winger.

The French champions have been playing hard ball over Lemar in recent months but it’s difficult to see them being able to resist such an offer if these reports are accurate.

Liverpool have also been showing a keen interest in the French international after making a £74m bid earlier this week so we’ll have to wait and see whether they step-up their interest in light of Arsenal’s huge offer.

It’s going to be a pivotal few hours as Lemar is set to start for France tonight in their World Cup qualifier against Holland so any transfer will need to be concluded quickly.

I would personally have preferred we went hard for Julian Draxler as he’s reportedly available at half the price of Lemar and he’s more developed than the Frenchman.

However, I certainly won’t complain if we manage to bring in Lemar as Sanchez’s replacement.
