According to the Telegraph, an overwhelming number of Arsenal players want Alexis Sanchez sold before the window shuts as they feel he’s having a detrimental effect on the squad.

As you all know, Sanchez is in the final year of his contract and has been strongly linked with a move to Manchester City worth up to £70m after refusing to sign an extension.

Yesterday, reports broke claiming we are in talks with City over a potential player-plus-cash swap deal involving Raheem Sterling but as yet no deal has been agreed.

Unless City meet our demands, there is still a chance Alexis will be an Arsenal player come September 1st, however, that won’t go down too well among the squad, if reports are to be believed.

The Telegraph claim that an ‘overwhelming’ number of Arsenal players want Sanchez sold before tomorrow night’s deadline as they believe he’s now having a detrimental effect on the squad.

The newspaper says the players have had enough of Sanchez as they don’t think he has the desire to be at Arsenal any longer and has been allowed to put himself before the team for too long.

Moreover, the report indicates that there is a strong feeling that the constant speculation surrounding Sanchez is effecting the squad and it will only get worse if he’s allowed to run down the final year of his deal.

Tensions between Alexis and his team-mates have been brewing for some time as he was dropped for the trip to Liverpool last season following a training ground bust-up with Laurent Koscielny.

There have been several other incidents over the past year that have convinced Arsenal players that Sanchez is too selfish and isn’t committed to the cause any more, so they want him gone.

On the face of it, it’s easy to believe the Telegraph’s claims as I’m sure Alexis is a difficult character to deal with around the squad and doubts over his future certainly don’t help matters.

However, I find the timing of this ‘leaked’ information a little coincidental as it looks to me like the club are trying to justify their decision to sell Sanchez by portraying him as a problem within the squad.
