Arsenal in talks with PSG over Draxler deal but Man Utd also keen

By on August 18, 2017

According to the Daily Star, Arsenal have held preliminary talks with Paris Saint-Germain over the possible signing of Julian Draxler but we’ll face stiff competition for his signature.

Draxler has been tipped to leave the Parc des Prince following the arrival of Neymar in a world record deal from Barcelona while the French giants are also reportedly in for Mylian Mbappe which would push him even further down the pecking order.

The Sun reported yesterday that PSG have informed Draxler he’s free to find a new club and are now willing to cash-in on the German international for just £32m – which would represent the bargain of the summer.

Obviously PSG are coming out to deny the reports while Draxler’s agent has also done his bit to play down his clients exit but it’s difficult to see where the young attacker fits in with so much competition for places.

The 23-year-old only joined PSG in January from Wolfsburg and scored 10 goals in just 25 appearances in all competitions during the second half of last season.

However, he’s fighting the likes of Neymar, Edinson Cavani, Angel Di Maria, Lucas Moura and possible Mbappe for a starting spot this season so it would come as no surprise to hear he’s available for transfer.

And a move to the Emirates could be on the cards during the closing stages of the window as the Daily Star claim Arsenal have held initial talks with PSG about a possible deal.

Arsene Wenger is in the market for another attacker but we could turn our attention to Draxler after struggling to agree terms with Monaco over a deal for Thomas Lemar.

The German international has been linked with Arsenal several times in the past so we know Wenger is a fan but we aren’t the only club showing an interest as the newspaper says Man Utd are among a clutch of clubs who’ve been in touch with PSG.

Jose Mourinho is also looking to sign a wide attacker and the United boss may be eyeing Draxler as an alternative to Ivan Perisic with Inter Milan digging their heels in over a deal.

The good news is the Daily Star cite a report from the Gambling Times as saying that Arsenal have the most serious interest out of all the English clubs so we could see some movement on this over the coming days.

Let’s hope so as Draxler would be a superb signing and I’d actually prefer we went for him over Lemar, especially if he’s available for just £32m.
