Arsenal have agreed deal to sign 14-goal star as Wenger closes-in on 3rd signing
According to a report in the Express, Arsenal have a deal ‘done’ to sign Thomas Lemar this summer and are simply waiting for Monaco to buy a replacement before completing the transfer.
Arsene Wenger has confirmed he’s still active in the transfer market after only buying Sead Kolasinac and Alexandre Lacazette so far this summer and a new attacker appears to be on the agenda.
We’ve been strongly linked with Lemar in recent weeks but the majority of media outlets claim Monaco have been playing hardball over a fee after rejecting several Arsenal offers.
However, The Sun reported last week that we were on the verge of signing Lemar in a £45m deal after reaching a breakthrough in negotiations while the paper also says the attacker has agreed personal terms ahead of his move to the Emirates.
It appears those claims are supported by Italian journalist Emanuele Giulianelli who has now been quoted by the Express as saying that a deal taking Lemar to Arsenal is ‘done’ and we’re just waiting for Monaco to sign a replacement.
Giulianelli made the claim during an exchange with a supporter on Twitter. The Express say the exchange went something like this:
Giulianelli: “To all the Arsenal supporters asking me about Lemar I can answer: don’t worry, he will join the Gunners.”
Fan: “Ema, one quick question, please: is Lemar to #AFC conditional upon anything else? Or 100% agreed, nothing to do with any Monaco signing?”
Giulianelli: “Done, but Monaco want to have a substitute first.”
Giulianelli has a mixed success when it comes to making bold transfer claims, but I suppose you can say the same for all journalists, so the safest thing is to take his Lemar claim with a pinch of salt for now.
But I do think it’s clear by now that Wenger is pushing hard to sign the French international this summer and I’d be surprised if we don’t get a deal agreed in the end.

Lemar would be an exciting addition to the squad as he’s one of the best attacker in France and proved that by scoring 14 goals and setting up a further 17 for his team mates during Monaco’s title-winning campaign last season.

But why is it that, Arsenal is the only team that buys not more than 2 players every season yet the club is one of the richest in the world ?

That’s because every football club which operates within its own resources needs to sell players to buy more than 2 each window, in order to balance the books. Anything to the contrary and the club will go broke and put under administration. Maybe, you didn’t know the club’s you feel buy “more than 2 players every season” are backed by the extra resources of billionaire owners or a whole country (as is the case with Man City). Arsenal does not operate that way. We spend what we make from football business. That is a sustainable model.

Alexis has completely gotten how Arsenal helped him become one of the best now everyone yarn to have him in their team. he must remember what Barcelona did to him and above all the very coach who wants him now. who new Alexis when he was in Barcelona as a player. now when arsenal mould and groom him and gave all the opportunities, he became world class but unfortunately Alexis has never had time to remind himself what Arsenal as a club did to him. its disappointing and embarrassing. he must work had and repay Arsenal fc for what it has done to him.
Wenger should not have been given any contract in my opinion, because he is not prepared to win any big trophy for the club especially when we look at the current transfer period when compared to Man. city, utd, Chelsea, Tottenham, Liverpool, Everton. he is just a joker with the current footballing development.
Arsenal needs serious attacking mid fielders at least two in the position of Carzola with a striker who is very aggressive like aguero, Suares
Arsenal should also learn to have what we call dangerous substitutes almost in every sensitive positions, less that forget big trophies coming to Arsenal very soon

Arsenal are taking a long time to sign Lemar . If Monaco is not prepared to sell move on to another target. The time the EPL starts Arsenal will stil have the same players who failed to achieve top 4 finish.Wenger talks about refurbishing some of the deadwood instead of shipping them out & bringing new players & thats the reason Sanchez feels it would be the same as last season & wants out.I dont blame Sanchez but Wenger who is not bringing good players to play along side him with a realistic chance of winning trophes .

Forget Wenger! He seems antiquated. He has forgetten that football has gone beyond what he thinks. He keeps stalling on a player every transfer season. He has made Arsenal the last resort for players that are not competitive in the transfer market
