Arsenal ready to secure third signing as Wenger eyes £6m deal

By on July 6, 2017

According to a report by talkSPORT, Arsenal could be set to secure their third signing of the summer after Arsene Wenger stepped-up his interest in Udinese midfielder Jakub Jankto.

The boss has been getting his business done early this summer with striker Alexandre Lacazette making a club record move yesterday following the arrival of left-back Sead Kolasinac on a free transfer from Schalke.

A new central midfielder also appears to be on Wenger’s radar as he looks to strengthen his options amid speculation that Santi Cazorla may not play for the club again due to injury problems and Jankto has emerged as a target.

The Czech Republic international has been linked with a move to the Emirates for several months but it was thought that Wenger had decided to move on to other targets.

However, talkSPORT are citing a report from Gazzetta dello Sport that claims Jankto is still very much on the bosses radar and suggests that the midfielder could now become our third signing of the summer.

The report says we’re ready to step-up our interest in the 21-year-old after monitoring him for over a year and Wenger could decide to meet his £6m release clause as it would represent great value for such an exciting talent.

Jankto joined Udinese from Slavia Prague in 2014 and impressed during his 29 Serie A appearances last season so he’s been tipped to have a bright future in the game.

However, we need a defensive midfielder to protect the back four and do the dirty work alongside the likes of Granit Xhaka next season and while Jankto is an exciting talent, he’s not ready to be a first team regular just yet.

Therefore, if we do decide to press ahead with a deal this summer I think we’ll see the youngster come in as nothing more than a squad player for now.
