Arsenal Agree Deal To Sign 24-Goal Striker [Sky Sports]

By on May 31, 2017

According to Sky Sports News, Arsenal have agreed a £6.8m deal to sign K.A.S Eupen striker Henry Onyekuru this summer.

The club are expected to announce that Arsene Wenger has signed a new contract extension today and it looks like the boss is already moving quickly in the transfer market.

Several attackers are being linked with moves away from the Emirates this summer with the future’s of Alexis Sanchez, Lucas Perez, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Joel Campbell all in doubt so Wenger is going to be in the market for attacking reinforcements.

Onyekuru emerged as a target last week when widespread reports suggested we were in talks with KAS Eupen over a potential deal to sign the 19-year-old hitman.

It appears those negotiations have gone well as Sky Sports News are one of several outlets reporting that we’ve agreed terms to trigger Onyekuru’s £6.8m release clause.

Personal terms are yet to be agreed with the player but Sky Sports say the teenager is a boyhood Arsenal fan and is keen on the move so I don’t expect his contract to be an issue.

Onyekuru has caught the attention of several Premier League clubs after scoring 24 goals for Eupen last season having joined the Belgian club from the Aspire Academy in Qatar in 2015.

The youngster is predominantly a left-sided attacker who can also play up front so theoretically he can fill the positions Sanchez’s currently occupies.

However, I personally think the club will have more ambitious targets in mind to replace the Chilean international if he does leave so Onyekuru is probably being lined-up as a replacement for Perez.

He has bags of potential so he could turn out to be a shrewd purchase but we could yet see the deal hit a roadblock as Onyekuru is yet to earn a cap for Nigeria so obtaining a work permit could be a major problem.
