[Player Ratings] Arsenal 2-0 Man Utd: Ramsey & The Ox shine

By on May 7, 2017

Granit Xhaka and Danny Welbeck were on target early in the second half to help Arsenal to a 2-0 victory over Manchester United at the Emirates this afternoon.

Here are my ratings:

Cech  7.5/10 | Made a crucial save to deny Rooney at 0-0 and was solid between the sticks when called upon. Kicking wasn’t great though.

Holding 7/10 | I pleaded for him to be recalled in my my preview and thankflly he didn’t disappoint. One sloppy backpass aside, he was composed.

Koscielny 8/10 | A rock at the back and he made several important blocks and headers.

Monreal 7/10 | Another resolute performance from the Spaniard in the back three. Didn’t put a foot wrong.

Oxlade-Chamberlain 8/10 | Two assist for Th Ox, including a superb cross to supply Welbeck for the second goal. A constant threat and was one of our best players once again.

Ramsey 8/10 | A much-improved display from Rambo. He didn’t stop working and he made some excellent runs behind the United defence to cause them some problems. Forced De Gea in to a fine save in the firsthalf.

Xhaka 7.5/10 | Fine form continues and he opened the scoring with a lucky long-range striker. Went off with a knock so hopefully it’s not serious.

Gibbs 6/10 | Steady performance but his final ball was poor today as he was wasteful when in some promising positions.

Özil  7/10 | Worked hard and was always on the ball, especially in the second half when we took over.

Alexis 7/10 | Sloppy in possession at times but showed glimpses of his quality. One pass to release Ramsey was particularly impressive.

Welbeck 7.5/10 | Made himself a focal point without causing too many problems before powering home a header to secure the win.

Subs:

Coquelin [6.5], Giroud [N/A], Bellerin  [N/A]

WATCH the goals: Arsenal 2-0 Man Utd

So an important win is in the bag which keeps alive our top four hopes as we can move to within just one point of Liverpool if we win our two games in hand. Southampton away up next…
