Arsenal well positioned to secure £50m deal for 31-goal hitman
According to a report in the Daily Star, Arsenal are the only English club interested in signing Alexandre Lacazette with the £50m-rated striker set to leave Lyon this summer.
With doubts surrounding the future of Alexis Sanchez and Olivier Giroud being linked with a move back to France, Arsene Wenger is expected to be in the market for a top class striker this summer.
Lacazette has long been linked with a move to the Emirates in recent years and the speculation has intensified once again ahead of the summer transfer window.
The striker decided to remain at Lyon last year but the Daily Star is citing a report coming out of France that claims he will leave this summer and it appears Arsenal are well positioned to snap him up.
The newspaper says that we are the only Premier League club who are in the running to secure Lacazette’s signature with Lyon ready to do business at around £50m at the end of the season.
The Star do say that Atletico Madrid and Borussia Dortmund are also vying for his services, but Arsenal will be his destination if Lacazette decides he wants to try his luck here in England.
The 25-year-old is enjoying a sensational campaign having scored 31 goals in 40 appearances so no doubt he’d offer a real threat in the final third if he does end up moving to the Emirates.

Obviously we all pray that Alexis signs a new deal but our interest in Lacazette wouldn’t be over if he does as Wenger recently said that the Chilean has been moved back out wide as he prefers to play from the left than through the middle.
The ideal scenario would be Giroud being sold and Lacazette coming in as his replacement with the Frenchman playing up front and Sanchez deployed from the left next season.
