Arsenal to make £20m bid for Bundesliga midfielder [Mirror]
According to a report in the Mirror, Arsenal are ready to table a £20m offer for RB Leipzig midfielder Emil Forsberg ahead of a potential summer move.
Despite on-going doubts over his future at the Emirates, Arsene Wenger appears to be pressing ahead with his plans for the summer and a new attacking midfielder seems to be on his agenda.
With the future’s of Alexis Sanchez, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Lucas Perez in doubt, we might need a left-sided attacker and the Mirror claim Wenger has identified Forsberg as a key target.
The newspaper says that the Gunners boss has been watching the Swedish international all season and is now ready to test RB Leipzig’s resolve with a formal £20m offer.
Forsberg has been in excellent form for RB Leipzig this season having chipped in with 8 goals and 15 assists in his 25 appearances so far to help the club mount a surprise title challenge.
The 25-year-old has therefore been dubbed as Europe’s king of assists and he’d certainly bring some creativity in the final third if we were successful in getting a deal agreed.
However, I don’t think he’s anywhere near Sanchez’s quality so I hope if we do end up signing Forsberg he’s considered as a replacement for Perez or even The Ox.
Forsberg has enjoyed an excellent season but Wenger better have some more ambitious targets in mind to replace Alexis if we do end up having to cash-in on our star man this summer.
