[Video Goals] Arsenal U23’s 4-1 Chelsea U23’s: Welbeck on target for Gunners

By on February 24, 2017

Danny Welbeck scored from the penalty spot as Arsenal’s Under-23’s beat Chelsea Under-23’s 4-1 at London Colney this afternoon.

We named a strong side for the game with the  likes of Emi Martinez, Carl Jenkinson, Rob Holding and Ainsley Maitland-Niles joining Welbeck in the starting eleven.

And it was one of the first team boys who opened the scoring as Holding rose high to head home following a corner before Donyell Malen doubled our lead with a powerful strike that squeezed under the Blues keeper.

Reiss Nelson flicked home a Malen cross to make it 3-0 and although Chelsea pulled one back, Welbeck restored our 3-goal cushion with a well-taken penalty to secure a 4-1 win.

It’s great to see Danny get some vital minutes under his belt as he continues to work his way back to full fitness so hopefully we’ll see him involved with the first team against Liverpool at the start of March.

We haven’t got full match highlights yet but here are the second and fourth goals:
