[Tweets] Ozil, Xhaka & more celebrate online after Arsenal go top
Some of the Arsenal players have been celebrating on social media after we moved top of the Premier League table thanks to a 3-1 win over Stoke City at the Emirates this afternoon.
We fell behind to a hugely controversial penalty after the referee felt Granit Xhaka had caught Joe Allen in the face with a stray elbow but Theo Walcott grabbed a vital equaliser shortly before half time.
Mesut Ozil put us 2-1 ahead with a superb header just after the break before Alex Iwobi scored a lovely third after a one-two with Alexis Sanchez to secure a 3-1 victory over Mark Hughes’ side.
The win sees us go level on points and on goal difference with Chelsea at the top of the table but we sit first due to our superior ‘goals scored’ ahead of Chelsea’s game with West Brom on Sunday.
Some of the players have now been celebrating on Twitter with Ozil, Alex Iwobi, Hector Bellerin and Per Mertesacker all posting messages while Granit Xhaka also shared a message/photo on Instagram.
Check out what the boys have been up to here:
