Wenger offers his thoughts on Mesut Ozil’s performance v Bournemouth
Arsene Wenger has offered his thoughts on Mesut Ozil’s performance after he scored the opening goal during a 2-0 win over Bournemouth on Sunday afternoon.
The German international broke the deadlock midway through the first half with a fine right-footed finish following a headed knock-down from Olivier Giroud.
Ozil was our most dangerous player in the final third once again but he also showed his battling qualities as he fought hard against a committed Bournemouth side to help us secure a vital three points.
Speaking to Arsenal.com after the game, Wenger has now hailed Ozil as a ‘very important player’ and feels he put in a ‘top, top, top performance’ against the Cherries this afternoon.
He told the clubs website:
on Ozil…
He has become a very important player. He has added a fighting attitude today. It was a top, top, top performance from him today.on his goal…
He scored with his right foot which is very interesting for us. If he scores with his right foot he will become even stronger.
Ozil is vital to our team and was central to our victory at Dean Court this afternoon. No doubt if we’re to go on and lift the Premier League title, Ozil will need to continue his excellent form over the coming weeks.
