Arsenal make a real statement of intent in the title race with a hard fought 2-1 victory over Manchester City at the Emirates.

Mesut Ozil was in outstanding form yet again as he provided 2 more assists, firstly to tee-up Walcott for a superb opener before playing in Giroud to make it 2-0 before half-time.

Toure’s stunner made it a nervy last few minutes but we held on to secure a huge three points.

Here are my ratings:

Cech  7/10 – Could do nothing about Toure’s wonder goal but was otherwise commanding in-between the sticks. Unlucky not to get the clean sheet record.

Bellerin  7/10 – Solid at the back and was a threat going forward when he did push up.

Mertesacker  8.5/10 – Outstanding. Made countless interceptions and won everything in the air.

Koscielny  8/10 – Dominant performance at the back again and kept Aguero quiet.

Monreal  6.5/10 – Given a tough time by De Bruyne at times in the first half but improved after the break.

Ramsey  6.5/10 – Wasted two excellent opportunities to get the third goal and kill the game. Also failed to track Toure for his goal.

Flamini  7/10 – Rolled his sleeves up and did the dirty work. Marked Silva out the game.

Walcott  8/10 – Stunning finish to open the scoring and was a real threat with his pace on the counter attack.

Özil  8.5/10 – Ran the show again. Another two assists for the German schemer. The ball for Giroud was inch perfect. What a player.

Campbell  7.5/10 – Another hard working display and almost capped it off with a goal following a great run.

Giroud  7.5/10 – Lovely low finish to make it 2-0 and was a real handful up front. Hold up play was very good too.

Subs:

Gibbs  6/10 – On to offer more protection in front of Monreal.
