Arsenal handed major injury boost as star sets comeback date
It looks like Arsenal are finally set to receive some positive injury news with Jack Wilshere targetting his long-awaited comeback against Southampton on Boxing Day.
Wilshere is yet to feature this season after fracturing his left fibula in training just before our Community Shield clash with Chelsea and he underwent surgery back in September which ruled him out for at least three months.
However, it looks like Jack is now closing in on his first team return as reports today suggest the midfielder has set our trip to Southampton on December 26 as his comeback date.
The report claims Wilshere is actually confident he could be in contention for a place in the squad when we welcome Manchester City to the Emirates on December 21, but the Saints clash is a more realistic target.
We head to St Mary’s on Boxing Day and Wilshere’s availability would be a major boost after Santi Cazorla and Francis Coquelin were ruled out for the next three months through injury.
The report says Jack is already running freely indoors and is now stepping up his rehab with ball work, so it won’t be long before he’s back out on the training pitch, and I can’t wait for Wilshere to be fit again as we’ve sorely missed him in recent weeks and we’ll certainly need him now that Cazorla is out.
Let’s hope he can stay injury free for the rest of the season once he returns to action as we’ve got an excellent chance of lifting the Premier League title this season with the lads at eSports betting recently installing us as favourites.
There’s obviously still a long way to go and plenty of football to be played but I’d fancy our chances if Wilshere can keep himself 100% during the second half of the campaign.
