It looks like we can all breath a huge sign of relief as according to reports today, Arsenal have eased fears over the groin injury that Alexis Sanchez picked up against Man Utd on Sunday.

Sanchez was in top form once again as we blew United away with three quick-fire goals at the Emirates with our Chilean super-star helping himself to a brace.

The 26-year-old then limped off 10 minutes from the end and was replaced by Kieran Gibbs after appearing to pick up a groin injury during the second half.

Arsene Wenger confirmed after the game that Sanchez had a groin problem and the boss was concerned he may make it worse while away on international duty with Chile.

“He has a little groin problem.” Wenger is quoted as saying by the Express

“Unfortunately he goes to Chile. You cannot stop him from going to Chile and he loves so much to play for his country and he will play against Brazil [on Friday] and Peru [next] Tuesday so the game at home against Brazil he will not want to miss.

“Hopefully he will come back in good shape.”

As I said yesterday, we would be mad to let Alexis play for his country while carrying an injury and he should withdrawn from the squad if there is any problem with his fitness.

However, thankfully it looks like the injury wasn’t as bad as first thought as the Express are reporting that when the Chile national team contacted Arsenal for an update on Sanchez’s situation they were told there was no injury and he’s available for selection.

The information originates from Chilean newspaper La Tercera and they claim that the Chile medical team will carry out there own checks when Alexis arrives for international duty, but it sounds like he’s already shaken off the minor groin problem.

Let’s hope so as it would be a disaster for him to aggravate the injury while away with his country, so fingers crossed they look after him and send him back to North London in one piece.
